Tourus Press Release
Wharfedale Pro announce a new series of plastic, active loudspeakers delivering power, value and versatility. Introducing TOURUS.
Positioned beneath the well established TITAN and the flagship TYPHON series, the new TOURUS series are affordable, powerful and versatile. With a 12” and a 15” version available and with “MBT” models featuring USB mp3 playback and Bluetooth connectivity with TWS stereo link mode, the new series is for anyone needing big power and features on a compact budget.
Custom WP drivers have been selected to ensure that this affordable series have the power and timbre expected from a Wharfedale Pro loudspeaker. In addition, the amplification stages deploy both Class D (LF) and Class AB (HF) to bring power and value to this new series.
With full steel grilles, multiple handles and 4 x M8 rigging points, Tourus is well suited for installations and for hard work on the road.
A new illuminated Wharfedale Pro logo badge is also proudly shown on the front so that Tourus looks as good as it sounds.
July 2021 – New 8″ Tourus models
Wharfedale Pro announce that two new 8” models have been added to their Tourus series of plastic active loudspeakers. Tourus-AX8 and the USB/Bluetooth enabled Tourus-AX8-MBT.
These new 8” models join the Tourus 12” and Tourus 15” models which were announced in 2020.
Using the same design philosophy as the larger Tourus models, the new 8″ models have durable ABS plastic cabinets with handles, rigging points and strong full-face steel grills to protect the custom Wharfedale Pro drivers and electronics inside.
Headline specifications which make Tourus 8” models stand out from the crowd are the 250 watts of continuous output power and the use of a 1.75” HF compression driver.
As with other models of Tourus, the system is Class D bi-amplified and uses convection cooling to ensure audio clarity and long-term reliability.
The Tourus-AX8-MBT model also brings Bluetooth connectivity, a USB input for direct .mp3 / .wav file playback and a TWS link mode, allowing for wire-free stereo pairing.
With RCA, XLR and 6.3mm jack inputs, Tourus 8” models have been designed to be versatile and can be used in almost any audio application.
Tourus 8” models are also a perfect partner for the recently introduced T-Sub-AX15B active subwoofer.

Lets look inside
Tourus loudspeakers use the largest HF voice coils in their class. All models use a 1.75″ coil which is unique at this price point.
This custom made Wharfedale Pro compression driver delivers crisp and precise high frequencies, even at extreme volumes.
The internal amplifiers have been tuned specifically for the HF and LF drivers that we have chosen. This makes for perfect power and frequency transfer, resulting in the sonic experience that you’d expect from a Wharfedale Pro active loudspeaker.
We are not fans...of fans
ssssssh ! The two amplifiers inside a Tourus are extremely efficient.
So efficient that they can use convection cooling. This means that there are no fans!
Fans inside loudspeakers can add to operational noise, weight, price and can lead to reliability issues. Tourus has no fan! Ssssssh! – Silent and reliable operation.
Bluetooth models with internal mp3 player
The Tourus- MBT models include both BLUETOOTH and USB thumb drive inputs.Its quick and easy to pair your mobile device over BLUETOOTH allowing for high quality wireless audio to stream into the Tourus.
The MBT models also feature TWS pairing. Easily link two Tourus (or should that be…”Tourae”??) together – wirelessly.
Alternatively, insert a USB thumb drive containing audio files (.wav, .flac, .mp3) and control backing tracks or background music with the transport controls on the rear.

Optional soft covers
With soft internal padding these optional ‘soft cover’ accessories are ideal for simple transportation or as a dust cover when the Tourus is not being used.
The Tourus carry handles are easily accessible even when it is inside its Tourus Soft cover.

A perfect partner for a Tourus is the 15″, 700 watts continuous, T-Sub-AX15B.
Used with a Tourus, a Titan or our flagship Typhon models, T-Sub-AX15B completes the system – bringing new levels of bass to the setup.
